Let's Talk About Safety

This is perhaps the most common question asked about Baja California by those who are unfamiliar with it. As kids say these days: IYKYK. For those who don't know, clearly stated, Baja is by far the safest area in all of Mexico. And within Baja itself, Loreto is far safer than Cabo, La Paz, and Tijuana. Moreover, Loreto is infinitely safer than Vancouver, Dallas, Seattle, Omaha, Miami, Cleveland, Montreal, San Diego, Nashville, Phoenix, Honolulu, Toronto, San Francisco, et al, and certainly safer than Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Mazatlan, Tulum, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Guanajuato, San Miguel, Cancun, etc. The main reason is simple: Loreto is still very small and the local policia knows everyone so there's no place for 'bad hombres' to hide. And because there's not enough money here to attract them, cartels have no interest.
